As described in the Heritage section of our website - Rhino has in the past been represented in Japan and originally sold a great many roller and sled style scrum machines in that market in the 1980’s and 1990’s. With the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and the Olympic Sevens in 2020 scheduled for Japan, we are keen to re-establish ourselves in this substantial market. Group CEO Reg Clark and consultant Saburo Takahashi recently visited Tokyo to have discussions with several possible partners in the mainstream rugby equipment and also the artificial turf markets and Rhino Japan can be expected to be up and running within months. Reg Clark worked and played rugby for Kobe Steel in Japan in the early 1980’s and was pleased to discover an old protégé, David Bickle, who played for Kobe Steel and Japan in the 1990’s in post as President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Rhino are with the kind assistance of the British Embassy holding a business networking reception there tomorrow evening to help facilitate our Japan re-launch.
