Rhino Rugby has today been announced as the first Partner of the Parliamentary World Cup which will be held in September 2015 in the week immediately before Rugby World Cup in England. Rhino will supply the match balls and pitch kits for the tournament, which will be staged at the Richmond Athletic Ground and in Rugby, and is expected to participate widely in the various events surrounding the tournament in addition to the games themselves.
This is the sixth Parliamentary World Cup, the first having been staged in South Africa in 1995 as a vehicle to foster international relationships through sport. The UK Parliamentary team, the Commons and Lords RUFC are hosts and will be welcoming reigning champions New Zealand, Ireland, Australia, France, Argentina, Japan and South Africa. Scotland and Wales will be represented separately by the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly teams.
Reg Clark, Rhino Group CEO comments: "Having played for the Lords & Commons RUFC for many years I am particularly pleased that Rhino will be heavily involved in helping that club host the Parliamentary World Cup 2015 - especially as we have already been appointed an Official Licensee to the main RWC tournament. I look forward to working with many old teammates and friends to make this a very successful week of events".
Lords & Commons Club Captain, Lord Addington, said "on behalf of Parliamentary Rugby World Cup 2015, I am delighted that Rhino Rugby has become the first tournament partner. The tournament is not supported through public funding and we are grateful to Rhino for supplying us with the quality equipment that means we can take to the pitch and emulate the genuine international players the week after our tournament."
