Congratulations to Rhino Teamwear who have become Official Ball Supplier to the Border League in Scotland, currently sponsored by Booker.

The league is the oldest in world rugby, dating back to 1901, and in addition to this historic XV a side competition, Rhino Vortex Elite balls will also be used (with the exception of the Melrose tournament, which will continue to use balls supplied by our friends at Gilberts) for the equally famous Border Sevens circuit, now called ‘Kings of the 7s’.

Seven-a-side rugby, now an Olympic sport, was invented in Melrose in 1883 and in the opening tournament of 2016-17 on August 6th at Peebles, the Melrose side defeated Watsonians 22-17 in the final.

The XVs league opened up on August 13th with defending champions Gala defeating Selkirk 34-19. Gala have won 4 of the last 5 league titles, but with 12 in total since 1901 have a long way to go to overhaul Hawick, who have triumphed no less than 49 times.

Rhino - for the last 5 seasons Official Ball Supplier to the Guinness PRO12, and shortly for the third time to the British & Irish Lions – this time for their tour to New Zealand next year - looks forward to a long association with these famous Scottish rugby competitions.
