A nationwide competition has been launched to design a rugby ball, which will go into production, in aid of children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan.

Open to children of all ages, the winning ball design will be selected by a judging panel that includes Welsh rugby stars Adam Jones, Rhys Webb, Ben John and Richard Hibbard, together with England fly-half Megan Jones and lock Zoe Aldcroft.

Once the winning design has been chosen, Rhino will put the ball into production with the first Tŷ Hafan ball going on sale in May 2021 – all profits from the sales will then go direct to Tŷ Hafan.

As well as the prestige of having your ball put into production by Cardiff-based rugby specialists Rhino, the competition prizes also include a shirt signed by the 2021 Wales Six Nations squad and five runners-up prizes of Rhino rugby balls signed by Welsh rugby stars.

To enter, children just have to draw a rugby ball in their own unique style, it could be anything from dinosaurs and dragons to rainbows and rugby stars. Photographs of entries can then be submitted in the form below or emailed to tyhafan@rhino.direct together with the artist’s name and age, and an email address and contact number of a parent/guardian over the age of 18. Closing date for entries is midnight, 20.03.21

Tŷ Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers care to children and support for their families, throughout Wales. It offers comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families in the hospice, in the community and in their home so they can make the most of the time they have left together. Tŷ Hafan allow parents and carers to relax and recharge their batteries. And we make sure the needs of brothers and sisters are never forgotten.
