Cardiff University Students’ Union have joined the Welsh Rugby Union and the British & Irish Lions as long-term partners of Rhino by signing a new three-year deal covering leisurewear and playing kit for its 67 sporting clubs.
After three years of supplying the University's clubs – including many of those involved in the 2018 Welsh Varsity win over Swansea – Rhino will continue to provide Cardiff University Students’ Union’s sports clubs with playing kit and leisurewear for at least three more years.
Sport plays an integral role in student life at Cardiff. Whether competing at an elite level or engaging recreationally, sport has a positive impact on academic achievement, social confidence, and health and wellbeing. Cardiff University Students’ Union has a long history of championing and supporting student sporting activity through their Athletic Union which has more than 5,000 student members that engage in a range of diverse sports.
While Rhino's pedigree in team wear was developed in rugby, its reputation is growing fast across all sports. The sports covered by the new deal include lacrosse, netball, basketball, squash, football and, of course, rugby.
"We're very excited about continuing our partnership with Cardiff University Students’ Union," says Keiron Blackburn, General Manager at Rhino. "The excellence of the sports clubs makes it a perfect partner for us, and because we're a Cardiff based company it makes it even more special. The calibre of athletes they develop at the university is very high and we're sure the partnership is going to produce many more great moments, such as those witnessed at Welsh Varsity last year."
Athletic Union President Georgie Haynes also commented, “After working through a thorough tender process we are pleased to be continuing our relationship with Rhino. Their offer was the best fit for our members in regards to quality of kit, pricing structure and delivery time. When you also consider how local they are to the University, we are confident they will continue to provide an excellent service to our sporting students.”
