HSBC have been running a series of coaching events in the UK and South Africa during the tour and one of the Lions tour legacies is a new rugby pitch and kit and equipment for the primary school which is close to First Cape’s head office. The opening of the new facility performed by Lions Tour Manager Gerald Davies was combined with a HSBC coaching event attended by captain Paul O’Connell and many of his players. Simondium Primary School headmaster William Keet said: “This legacy of the British & Irish Lions to our school is a dream come true for us – we are extremely grateful to them, First Cape, HSBC and Rhino Rugby for their contributions to this”.
